Soles
I thought that name sounded cryptic and mysterious, didn't you?
So I was just wasting all my time on Polyvore while watching Seinfeld out of the corner of my eye, as I tend to do, when I found this seriously uh-mazing pair of rainboots. They aren't your normal boots. They're cooler. They're not quite see-through, but they're sort of tinted. Their soles are BRIGHT NEON COLOURS! Notice I spelled that the British way. So are their laces. They're so radical, bro! Check them out, and fangirl with me if you so desire.
Plus, in the top corner of every little boot snapshot, there are little charming hearts, just floating around. AWW. I really want the yellow pair of these, or possibly the pink. Although I suppose they're sort of impractical, because unless you wear, like, transparent socks that have material so thick that it looks like you have no feet, the effect of the see-through is sort of ruined. Plus, you really can't even wear them with long pants, because if you do, once again, the effect is annihilated (love that word). But either way, they're cute just to dream about.

Mine is pi-and-piano, and here's my first mix (haha, mixtape, how retro am I now?):

Lunchtime
There is an undeniable agreement around the world--lunch is awesome. I'm going to get to the point right now, and say that not only is LUNCH awesome, but its carrier--the famed lunchbox, bag, sack, or whatever you may call it--truly generates the awesome. So today I'm going to share with you some great ways to transport your lunch, across the globe and through the decades. Enjoy!
Always, the tin lunchbox.

I've always had a small obsession with lunch boxes with compartments. I find them to be so adorable and, well, organized, which is what I like. However, I've always felt conflicted because me and the retro tin have always been a package deal, but the cute compartment containers DON'T FIT IN THE TINS! Hopefully, you all understand how catastrophic this is for me emotionally.
Oh, the classic lunch pail, from dinosaur days. Of our parents.

The average school lunch in France. What are we missing here, folks?
The average school lunch in Japan. So cute!

All right, no offense, rest of world, but the only cool lunch things I seem to be finding on Google are from Japan. There must be some fun-lunchbox deficiency currently... I'll need to work on that. Anyway, I think we've reached the end of the line here. Hope you enjoyed this, and are now hungry. I'll feel some sense of accomplishment.
By ze way, I'm going to Amish Country for Memorial Day weekend! Make sure to mention what you're doing in the comments...

Watch Out: Marina and the Diamonds
I've been a fan of le incroyable Marina Diamandis since I heard her song "Radioactive" playing in Loehmann's sometime last year. I love pretty much everything about her--her clothes:

Her songs:
--Primadonna (best one ever):
--Oh No (already on blog, click here to see post with video)
--I Am Not a Robot
--Radioactive (not to be confused with another song of that same title, by the ever-famous Imagine Dragons)
--Teen Idle
--How to Be a Heartbreaker (I was never really a big fan of this song, and then when it went mainstream and was on Glee and all that... but snaps to you if you like it, I suppose)
That's all I can really remember right now. I just wanted to say that Marina Diamandis is one of the coolest people right now, and if she gets popular after I write this (like MKTO did; see my post), well, you'll already know her and all her repertoire. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go to watch Moonrise Kingdom. Adieu!

Day Uno
I've decided to start anew on here. I've always wanted to try one of those a-picture-a-day things that some bloggers tend to do, so I've decided to do that from now on so I don't feel totally guilty about not posting because I'll only feel obligated to post one thing. And then if I'm feeling especially share-y on a particular day, I'll just write more! Sounds pretty foolproof to me. So without further ado, Day One at your service. Enjoy!

I thought this was very interesting. It's actually a Polyvore set that must have taken like 50 years to make, and it's pretty awesome. A regular Jackson Pollock! Kudos to that anonymous artist.

The Secret of the Universe
Yes folks, you read correctly! This very blog houses the true reason for your existence, right here in these few paragraphs of genius. The secret of the universe is... IS...
This is a heading-thing that I wrote a few weeks ago but kept as a draft, and it's NOT FUNNY, PAST RHEA! I honestly have no idea what I was going to write here, and now I'm sad. Sorry guys, for letting you down without the secret of the universe. I'll try to remember for next time, but you know about me and remembering...
We've got some serious snow ahora! Apparently the blizzard itself is called Winter Storm Nemo, and there are all sorts of internet scandals going on about how ridiculous it is to be named that; see for yourselves... My dad bought a generator after Sandy, but apparently it's not actually connected to the heat of the house, so we'll have our wi-fi and our microwave, sure, but NO HEAT! Jeez. I guess that leaves us all plenty of time to work on our book reports due Monday. I'm doing mine on The Help, and the poster's gonna be in the shape of a typewriter! Cool beans, huh? Creative book reports are the best.
And obviously we're all gonna need some ill-nasty tunes for the snowy weekend and lounging about our rooms in our jammies, right guys? So I've supplied you with some, yes, pretty ill-nasty (to quote Jenna Marbles) tunes/dance videos to clumsily laugh to while you're stuck at home. Enjoy these few songs, and be a hipster because no ladles and gentlespoons, you will not find these on Z100!
Caramelldansen = best Swedish dance EVERRRR.
Marina and the Diamonds, aka Marina Diamandis. How cool is that?! Your LAST NAME is like diamonds!
I mean, who doesn't appreciate a good Run-D.M.C., y'all? Good stuff! You be illin', illin'...
Sigh... Beyonce's the coolest. I love this song, it's the bomb diggity! Which brings us to... that's right, Pitch Perfect fans:
NO DIGGITY! Alrighty folks, annoy your grumpy siblings/Krupples/parents (nah, don't, love ya Mom and Dad), et cetera with your incessant dancing and gal power. Adieu for now, and stay safe in the snow!

Diff'rent Strokes
I thought doing a different-kinds-of-artists compilation sorta post would be fun and interesting (off-topic, but my little bro gets so annoyed when he tries to say 'interesting', because he can't, but he loves to use the word. "Intessu--innersta--itnesing--MOOOOM!"), so here we are! These guys' aesthetics are all so different, but super cools at the same time. Maybe you'll even be inspired...

⬆This is a pile of junk, up there. No, really. These robots, engineered and constructed by Colombian artist Mario Caicedo Langer, are made of old broken cell phones, windshield wipers, pipes, circuits, scraps of metal, lights, wire, nails and bolts, and other pieces of electronic trash, and somehow they manage to be real robots that have blinking lights and moving parts. Aren't they fabulous-looking? Functional robots made of phones. Have we found new geek role models today? Mwah ha ha.

The Holiday Treasure Trove
I celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah, which confuses a lot of people. "Wait, how can you be both--?" This FAQ is often followed by a realization. "Oh, I get it, so your parents are so religious they make you celebrate both? Do you go to temple and church? Do you get presents for both? Luck-eee!" Then I have to explain to them, yeah, I celebrate both, but I'm not really either religion, at least not that much, because my family's just not really religious at all. I never go to temple OR church, but I celebrate all the good holidays of both. Mwa-ha-ha! So now that that's all out of the way, I'll give y'all a belated description of my holiday bounty. Here's what I got in terms of sewing, in list form, since it's easier to write and read. Geez, I'm such a lazy bum, aren't I? With a British accent.
*A sewing machine! YESYESYESYESYES!!!! I'm terribly against over-punctuating things, but I think this Christmas gift deserves five gosh-darn exclamation points.
*Patterns for pants to sew--pajamas and capris. Considering that my current pajama pants are more like long shorts, I think this will be a very productive project :)
*Buttons, bows, googly eyes, beads, etc. to bedazzle my newly-sewed clothes
*One of those sewing supplies kits--it even has a pincushion with one of those little pepper things on it! AAAAH! <3 and="and" font="font" it="it" tonses="tonses">3>
*Cute scraps of fabric from my dad and grandma--here are some pictures of my favorite prints. Okay, they're at the bottom of the page, thanks for nothing, defective Blogger settings!
I also got some good running things for Hanukkah, like a phone holder to go on my arm so I don't have to carry it to listen to my B.o.B and other rap stuff. I always get freaked out it's going to fall and break, and then what of my two-year contract? Scary. This way, I'll be in shape for track in the spring! Distance, y'all! Definitely join track, everyone. It's a must!
Plenty of art supplies are always good too--Mod Podge! Five Below, which is up there on the list of best stores ever, is where we got all our cool ornaments, except for me and my brother, who made ours. And of course, no gift-giving holiday is complete without the ritualistic giving of glitzy stationery to the oldest girl of all the Gekotty cousins. I must have a whole drawer full of the stuff! Unfortunately, I didn't get the HESS truck of my dreams, but I'll just gaze lovingly at the Gekotty boys' cars. Heh. I love my new last name.

A Very Billy Halloween
So as we are aware, Halloween is approaching! The Halloween Carnival at FMS was on Friday (yeahhh, Jezebel the Wolf) and there were a lot of cool costumes, mostly three-year-old boys clad in awesome cartoonish masks and 10-year-old girls in Flintstone costumes (okay, THAT was just rated awesome). My Halloween creation this year was Billy Elliot! I had a long list, too, down below:
*R2-D2
*A sticker/stamp like the one on Rookie:
*A sandwich... what on Earth possessed me to think being a SANDWICH Y'ALL of all things? Jeez.
*Honey Boo-Boo ;) naw, that's a joke
*Michael Jackson (until SYDNEY decided to be him and even went as far as suggesting she wear a bow tie, which is just... evil. But it'll look awesome, I bet...)
*Freddie Mercury (cough, cough)
*Sandy from Grease (which would have been especially funny right now)
*a car!
*Chris Colfer
The costume comprised a blue boy's button-down, courtesy of Children's Place (it's a wonder I still fit into all the stuff in that place. I found this uh-mazing pair of brown sneakers that would have looked great with googly eyes, but seeing as I already have hoarded too many pairs of shoes, I let it take up space on the shelf.) like THIS.
Then my ever-helpful mother (the polls are up! Hah... Calvin and Hobbes reference) went to Target for me and bought the ultimate, pink, frothy tutu that outlines a 5-year-old girl's heaven (and I suppose mine too... and I'm a lot older than 5), like THIS lovely guy.
The inspiration was this scene in Billy Elliot: the song Expressing Yourself (Madmoo's and my anthem at gym...) when Billy, Michael, and Background Dancer #1 are dancing with tutus. Beautiful.
The rest of the outfit was just jeans, brand-spanking-new Capezio ballet slippers from a real live dance store (how was I supposed to know the proper ballet-slipper etiquette in that place?!), one of my beloved ties, and a duffel bag from AZ Flyer decorated with rated-awesome gold letters saying ELLIOT so at least one person at school may have the faintest idea of who I might be. I swear! Has no one ever seen Billy? Gawsh.

Typewriter Thrills
I really must stop with the blog-title alliterations, shouldn't I?
So guys, the typewriter that I ordered on eBay last Monday came yesterday! It's a real beauty. Unfortunately, the ribbon is really not too good, so I can't type much until the ribbon comes, which I ordered just about 10 or 15 minutes ago, sooo we'll see how that works out. I can make indents in the paper (ooh, aah), but that's just about it for now. But that's fine; I'm perfectly content just gazing ecstatically at it on its perch on my desk. WOOT!
Yesterday we (Mom, Dad, me, and little brothers) went into the city for a seemingly cool Italian festival in Little Italy, and we had a great time. The festival itself was really crowded and chaotic and all that good stuff, so everyone was getting kind of meltdown-y. But the savory crepes and sights were both quite good! Fall rocks. There was this cool street vendor who sold little wrist cuffs sewed by her and her partner out of other clothes. My mom got a brown one with a zipper on it and I got a green one made out of a t-shirt. Here's a picture of that; I'm wearing it today--

The website for the different accessories is right here, for those interested. It's a tad pricey, but it's a cool idea. They make wallets, necklaces, cuffs, and scarves all by themselves!
We sat down at a little playground and ate crepes, pizza, and gigantic chunks of watermelon, and then my mom and I decided to go over to a nearby rice pudding place called Rice to Riches, only because it looked busy and my grandma (shout-out to Grandma, allo!) is always talking about it. It was deee-licious! They just had the coolest flavors and it tasted real good. My dad looked up the recipe for my favorite flavor, chocolate chip, so if we ever get around to making it, I'll post the recipe here!
Hope y'all liked the cuff, and if you ever venture out into the city and someone suggests Rice to Riches, don't be disgusted by the idea of rice pudding! This certain someone is a wise... person. Take the tip!
Yours truly,

Les Sketches (seriously pardon my French!)
These here are some of my sketches from San Francisco that I was telling y'all about. Now, I must give credit where credit is due because I didn't actually draw the outline of the people; my dad was superbly impressed with me because he thought I drew them. Here is a little roleplay I concocted that was based on the actual conversation. Starring TAFKA PINKY! And... Dad.
Dad: Wow. I mean, seriously, wow! How did you learn to sketch like this?!
Me: *smiles bashfully* Um, well, it's not that good...
Dad: Yes it is! I mean, how did you get the eyes to look like that? (On this certain sketch, I had just happened to give the girl cat-eye makeup, so I thought he was talking about that.)
Me: I dunno. But it's kind of messy. Not that good.
Dad: Well, okaaaay... may I ask why you outlined them all in pink instead of pencil?
Me: Um, I didn't. I didn't actually draw that part, just the clothes, hair, and makeup.
Dad: WHATTA?! Um. Oh. Well... the clothes are... nice. *lumbers off*
So, yeah. That's the story... thanks, Dad! I hope y'all like these sketches. Be sure to comment which one(s) are your favorites, por favor. Thanks for listening! --TAFKA Pinky

100th Post feat. Awesome Etsy Squid Card
Hello again! What up, world? (This is my attempt of a normal, inconspicuous blog post in which I have not in any way, shape or form left all you devoted people hanging and longing for the return of the Blogger Formerly Known As Pinky--all you oldies music fans will understand thatta one. But I thank you so very muchly for keeping with this blog and begging me to post at school, over email, over snail mail, and over private blog. Thanks, dear AZ Flyer, for giving me a great comment like that! It made my day. Er, night. Whatever, it was politely pleasant and overall enjoyable. Better?
So today is my dad's birthday (you're young at heart), and for a birthday present he got a beautiferous new car. It is the color of fresh snow, and I'm currently thinking of a name for it, and I think a heroic name would be the Batmobile, so you know what, I think I'll stick with that. Happy birthday, dear Dad!
Just for the record, I seriously want this card. But it's yours. :-)
So one of the reasons why I brought this up is because (a) we're going hiking when my dad gets back from his "birthday run" so I have a nice and casual hiking outfit--a purple t-shirt tucked into my mint shorts with a sleek black belt from--what else?--H&M. This creepy picture was made on Polyvore--like the skull and the Squid Shower Caddy? HAH. Likee? And by the wa-a-a-ay, guys! Can you believe the monumentality of this moment: thisee here is my 100th post. You guys are the best for sticking with this blog for, like, forever. I'm going to attempt to name all of you now!
*PAHM *Nicole Vad *AZ Flyer *Amour
*EJ *Telt the Pelt aka Tess *Jezebel *Rocker123 (we miss you so!) *Emily and Sophie
*Mum and Dad *Graham Cracker *umm... Griffin *Haley *and others who have dropped in and out of what my dad likes to call the blogosphere. T. A. F. K. A. Pinky loves you all <3 p="p">3>

Can you believe the monumentality of this moment: thisee here is my 100th post. You guys are the best for sticking with this blog for, like, forever. I'm going to attempt to name all of you now!
