Now You Know About Nudibranchs

     Hallo, Freunde und Feinde!
Hello, friends and foes! ... Although I don't think too many of you are foes around here, but I guess you can't be too sure, right?
So on this *clenches jaw* LOVELY 96°F day, I want to talk about the nudibranch fad.
I know what you're thinking.
"Wha?!"
"What on this great pink earth is a NUDIBRANCH?"
"That's a weird word!"
Well, believe it or not, nudibranchs are real animals, and pretty cool animals at that. Here are a few pictures:
See how awesome they are? They come in soooo many different shapes and sizes, not to mention spikes, slime, and color.
Now that you're madly in love with these cool creatures of the sea, I'll explain to you what the nudibranch fad is! I bet all you guys love all your common animals. Dogs, cats, horses, dolphins, or whatever. Well folks, now is a PERFECT time to introduce to y'all the less common favorite animals. Ever hear of an axolotl? Didn't think so.  How about a tarsier? Nope!  Or a quokka?

My point is, I'm trying to let people know that there are perfectly LOVELY animals out there, but they're just UNKNOWN! No one knows about nudibranchs yet, so we're gonna make them famous. You guys in? I hope so. Just like Project Post-It on May 18th, we MUST make nudibranchs known. I'm talking stickers (love, love, LOVE stickers! Especially eccentric ones ;)~), blog posts about them, profile pictures of them (OK, maybe not...), and much, much more. Just make sure to give nudibranchs their fifteen minutes (or more) of fame, and make sure that we savor how awesome they are. Thanks for listening!
stay wacky like nudibranchs,
Taylor xx  I'm telling you, it's totally smiling at me!

Suggestions, Anyone? We Need YOU!

     Hey there, out-of-this-world friends!
Hola, fuera de este mundo-amigos! (I'm getting pretty used to this foreign-language greeting thing!)
I know I promised to post my nails, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to break my promise because (a) they're not, shall we say, staying on that well. And when I say that, I mean they're not exactly cooperating. The Cat in the Hat stripes that I made with my Sally Hansen nail marker-thing are wearing off, and my little faces all look traumatized-slash-scarred for life.  Why, O World? WHY?!?
But anyway, I've decided to make this an all-about-ze-audience post, and I'd just ADORE to have your opinions for this (read: extra comments, if you please!). So my proposal for this fine, thundery day is: What topics do YOU guys want for new posts? Here's a little list I've constructed of the posts I already know I want to do, but haven't done yet. Enjoy!
*Michael Jackson post (requested by my dear acquaintance PAHM)
*Marine animals/Shark Week post (so I guess it has to be late July, 'cause Shark Week 2012 starts on July 31st)
*Book review post on... hmm, nah! I'm not going to ruin your surprise factor! I'm not going to tell you what book.
*Post on my heroes  And no, sorry avid fans, but the Green Lantern isn't one of them.
*Library volunteering post
*An intro to the Nudibranch (pronounced noo-dih-brank) fad for those unaware post
*Duct tape crafts post
*Cimorelli post (an awesome a-capella group made of 6 sisters)
So what kind of posts do you guys want? Do y'all want more recipes, crafts, quizzes, fashion, travel, real life, or none of the above? I always love hearing your comments and I'd, of course, love to hear what you have to say. Upon written request, I'll reference whoever gives out a good idea in the post that I make. Thanks so much, everybody!
stay loyal and "sticky" UNLIKE (!!!) my dear... *clenches jaw* little... Sally Hansen nail marker-thing,
Inkypay :D

Kewl Boat Shoes (all mine! Finally!) and Clip-on Tie: Fashion Faux Pas?

Good gasp! Like my Arabic? It means "hello, my avid followers!" and I accessed it through Google Translate. Total-e (as my dear bother likes to say) epic, and not in an "epic FAIL" sort of way at all!! ... I hope :) مرحبا، أمتي متعطشا
Also, a thank-you for referencing my blog, Emily and Sophie (even though you really didn't need to... but hey, thanks! I appreciate the publicity, if you know what I mean... haw haw! I just ADORE being unexpected...)!
So here's my awesome part-of-an-OOTD (Outfit of the Day, a meaning I literally JUST figured out after months of reading a fashion blog where every single post read "OOTD: *insert random articles of clothing here*"). Firstly, I have this cool pair of Sperry Top-siders that I've just acquired from Zappos.com. Starting off with Cool Thing #1 about them, I'll also give all you curious ones out there (don't worry, I'm one of you too!) the link to see these epic boat shoes: http://www.zappos.com/sperry-top-sider-bahama-2-eye-grey-sweatshirt-fleece-sequins?zfcTest=fw:1. Look for them in "Blue Poseidon," which is a cool design that's right up my alley. Enjoy!
Second on the list is my übercool clip-on tie! Well, it's not really mine; it's my bother's (so what does that say about me? LOL. Now, before you're announcing in your head, "Well, my friend is officially insane...") BUT he was kind enough to let me borrow it. I sooperlurve the pattern. It doesn't exactly go with today's plaid shirt (clashy-riffic, you could say), but I'm too lazy to change :) Sorry for searing your eyes, guys (unwitting rhyme)! Hmm... it actually wasn't as bad as I'd thought...

Like it? No? Well, that's quite all right! Not everyone has weird fashion taste like mine... I suppose that was wishful thinking on my part. Chortle chortle guffaw! So now THIRD on my list is my nail polish. Before you get all excited because my post title said they were "Dr. Seuss" nails, I just want to give some *frowny face* bad news. Although I really, really, really wish that they had, I don't know, little Lorax stickers or whatever on them, they're just themed to look like the hat from the Cat in the Hat... that was quite a mouthful! What I meant was: they're just red and white stripes, along with yellow blobs that happen to have eyes on alternate nails. I'm kinda running out of time, so I'm actually going to post them tomorrow instead. Sorry about that.
stay creative like Dr. Seuss (stay tuned for my post about my heroes! Hint: Dr. S is one of them),

International Love

Spacey Stuff

Hallo, und wie kann man sein?
Hello, and how might you be? This is gonna be a real shorty of a post, and it's just saying that I felt like completely changing my blog template. Enjoy the science-y theme! I think it looks right cool, but that's just me... kindly drop by and let me know what you think. I ALSO have some cool pictures of space that go along with my "theme." Pretty snazzy, huh? :)
Also: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEEEASE respond to this, I'd IMMENSELY appreciate it... I have a background from thecutestblogontheblock.com, but I don't want it anymore. Has ANYBODY out there had (or is having) the same problem and knows how to get a background from Blogger instead? Thanks SO much for your assistance already!
sweating buckets,

My Summer Beach Pail List

Hallo, meine Freunde! Today's post shall indeed be inspired by my fellow bloggers Emily and Sophie, whose blog is at http://youngandfashionablylate.blogspot.com/, and is a fabulous mix of fashion, art, and real life, just like mine. Check it out! So Emily decided to make a bucket list of sorts, or a to-do list for SUMMER OH BEAUTIFUL SUMMER, and I've decided to do so as well, seeing as school ended for me yesterday. *woot woot* I'm going to call it a "beach pail list" (thanks, dear Mom, for coming up with that fetching title!) rawther than a bucket list, because it won't take up my entire life :) I surrrpose I'll have a lot more time on my hands now that school's over, so that's a good thing for all you avid blog readers out there! A great big shout out to youuuu...
So, without further ado, I present to you *drumroll please* my summer bucket list. Taaah-daaah:
1) Run at least 3 miles every week
2) Read all the books on my Classics List
-books such as Gone with the Wind (which I finished! Next on the list: the 4-hour movie recommended by my friend Francesca), Anne of Green Gables, Treasure Island, A Wrinkle in Time, and Fahrenheit 451
3) Take a bunch of road trips con mi familia, such as our Boston trip
4) Work on my plentiful art projects (Amour knows what I'm talking about!), such as Project Duct Tape, Project Newspaper Bowl, Project Sock Puppets, and Project Finger Knitting
5) Volunteer at my library a few times a week, and maybe help out with story hour there
6) Complete allllll my summer work early, even if it kills me in the process
7) Bake delicious cookies and such from my cute cookbook that shows you how to make boring ol' sugar cookies into Peppermint Pigs or Sci-Fi Squids (well, I must confess that I made the latter up, BUT I will try to make it a reality!)
8) Plan my next year's locker theme... I know what you're thinking: wha?! Well, I like to do some things in advance, that's all I'm sayin'...
9) Keep on Polyvore-ing and, of course, BLOGGING!
10) Write a must-haves list, such as an M.I.T. shirt and a Star Wars DVD or two on hand at all times from la biblioteca (library for all you non-Spanish speakers)
OK guys, that's just about all I can think of right now! I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. See y'all later!
stay unexpected like Scarlett O'Hara's many moods,
Pinky xx

Bostonian Fashion at Its Best (according to Pinky, that is)

"I can't believe the last day of school is TOMORROW." --my dear little brother
And neither can I! Honestly... this year has gone by so very fast. I'm excited (of course) for the upcoming fun of summer and because I get to let the organization lover inside of me out to clean for a while by clearing out my dear little brother's closet on Wednesday. PLUS my dear parents are paying me! *score* by my standards :)
     I'm here to talk about
1) how doleful I feel because we're not in oh-so-lurvely Boston, and
2) my fresh New England fashion trends. Sorry to my fashion friends out there 'cause other than the boat shoes <3 <3 <3 I haven't been posting much at all as far as fashion is concerned. Lo siento MUCHO! So here we are. I'm-a gonna do a sea-inspired outfit AND share a Polyvore set with you to show my rapture for this area of our country. Enjoy!
This set was made BEFORE our trip.
And now for the outfit!

~schnazzy bracelet with anchor and pearl charms on it:

From the Public Gardens (love dem swans) to b.good (people, not factories) to, You Could Say, Standing on Top of ze World

For those whom are Estonian and those whom are not, well halloo to you! I've got three words to share: I. LURVE. BOSTON!! It is utterly awesometatious and has what my mom calls "old world charm", which I am completely captivated by. I've now discovered that I much prefer the city to something beachy like, say, Puerto Rico. I just lurve being out and about! Here's an abridged summary of my stay in the c'est-adorable Colonial city of Boston, coming soon... in the next paragraph. :)
OK, so here I go from the top! Sorry if I bore you guys, but you know how I write: sooperlong, and long, and long, and lo-o-o-o-ng. *Da-da-da!* We got to our hotel, the Omni Parker House, which is filled to the historical brim with facts, facts, FACTS!!! From hosting JFK in its press room to inventing the famed Boston cream pie to dealing with supposed ghosts (uh-huh. Sorry, but I'm not the type who believes in the paranormal and such), this hotel's got a seriously complex history. It's very impressive for all you history buffs like me out there, but for the rest of you, I won't dwell too much on this topic...
After dumping our plentiful luggage in the room and trading our shorts and Converse for jeans and Airwalks (YES!), we headed on down the street to a simply delicious restaurant called Grotto for an all-Italian dinner, and to a chocolate shop in the neighborhood of Beacon Hill, which I absolutely positootly fell in love with. I mean, come on: they even had mini shoescrapes at the doors! How 1700s-y is that?! Gum, I just love it here! We took our mouthwatering chocolates to the Public Gardens, which is a much-smaller-but-still-cool version of Central Park, for all you New Yorkers. They had the COOLEST flowers near the entrance, so of course I had to take a pic. They were, like, extraterrestrial (yeahhh, Katy Perry)! See for yourself, and tell me what you think of these guys.
Epic, huh?
I should probably be cutting this post short now, but today we've had a lot of fun too. We went to the Skytop Observatory at the Pru, aka Prudential Center; snacked at b.good, a healthy burger place whose motto was "made by people, not factories"; and walked a few miles (I almost wore out my trusty plaid Airwalks that my math teacher is so fond of!). All in all, an excellent few days. Catch you doods later!
stay chock full o' facts from my favorite historical time period, the Colonial times, like all of New England!
Pinky alla Moda xx

P.S. I know, I know, I'm sorry... but I also adore the fashion here! I'm ensorcelled by their adorable boat shoes, which I really would lurve to buy for next school year. Here's a picture, and then I'm done for real!  and  aaaand  in conclusion,

Beautiferous Boston Bound (not to mention bound for inevitable arguments on the 5-hour car ride)

Hey there, ham helpers! I still can't believe I overlooked the fact that I was going to Boston on P-t-B-G-C, but it appears that I did indeedy. Dreadfully sorry about that one...
*ahem* Anyhoodles (let this be the one and only time I say this today), I am in the middle of an utterly tiring car ride, sandwiched between my two li'l brothers and the car door. I surrrpose I should be glad I'm not in the middle, though. :) So here I am, reading my dearly beloved Gone with the Wind (sob! Only 93 pages left! How will I live without the drama of Scarlett, Rhett, Ashley, Melly, and my favorite character: Wade O'Hara, Charles Hamilton and Scarlett's son?!) and listening to Weezer's Beverly Hills and Flo Rida's Good Feeling. I hope I'll love Boston, but I'm sure I will. I've been there before, in October 2011 (I thiiiink...), and I'm pretty sure I thought it was cool. So do wish me luck! I'll be reporting later today, or perchance tomorrow. Have we EVER got a seriously packed sched. for the next few days... stay tuned like my dear acquaintance Chuck's (HAW HAW!!!! Chortle chortle guffaw--that's becoming my signature thing now, isn't it?--! Chuck :D You're going to kill me for this, aren't you?)... my dear acquaintance Chuck's guitar!
sooperciao,

My Newfound Fondness for 5Ks

Whew! ... I guess that's my new favorite word on P-t-B-G-C, excepting "anyhoodles" and "y'all". I wonder what that tells about me. I suppose I'm just living life rawther quickly! Chortle chortle guffaw to my dear friend Telt the Pelt! :D
So *ahem* anyhoodles, over the weekend I ran a 5K (the equivalent of 3.1 customary miles) in a neighboring town. ⅗ of our rawther large family ran in the run: my *clenches jaw* charming little brother, aka bother; me, myself, and I; and my dear paternal unit. My 3-year-old li'l bro and mom stayed at home, although I'm SURE li'l Chaz did it with difficulty, seeing as he so would if he could run. My mumsie is a runner too, except I think she's more of the treadmill kind (I don't understand that! Why on this pink Earth would you want to run in front of a beautifully interesting WALL?! But to each their own, I surrrrpose...). person running on the treadmill What happened to her head?!
Not gonna say it, not gonna say it... on Saturday, as you know because of my lovely repetition, I ran a 5K (my second), and BOY OH BOY was it HOT! Remember that post... I'm gonna tag it right now. Grumble grumble... Wheel, about the post "Thank Jolly Gum for Air Conditioning!", it wasn't as hot out, but it sure felt that way! The things that gave me energy were the nice denizens (haw haw! Thanks, dear thesaurus! You're always there in my time of mind-blank...) on the side of the street, handing out water in muy, muy lindas cups that I WOULD have saved because they had little blue fish that looked like squids on them, if not for the fact that I was in the middle of a run. Terribly inconvenient, if I do say so myself... but oh vell, oh vell. My time was 30:51, I placed 103rd (all right, alllll right) in the whole thing, and I had a 9:56-minute mile, boo-ya! It was completely awesometatious. Plus, I had two bitsy bags of salty and mmm-buttery popcorn because, according to the running expert that is my dear old dad, salt-slash-sodium is good for you after you run. Score!
Speaking of which, my dad scored *wait for it... waaait for it* TENTH in the WHOLE ENTIRE RUN!! Woot woot, Dad! You da man! :) And dear li'l Niffy Dear (as I like to call my brother to push his buttons) scored 93rd, which is awesome too. Great job, doooods!
Live life jes' swimmingly like squids on little blue cups! Squid jewelry for ya:
popcornly yours,
Pinky xx

The Amusingness of the Teenager Posts

Buenas dias, mis amigos! Bueeeenas diiiias... that's from a really funny-yet-catchy song that we learned during Spanish, and it kinda stuck with my group of friends... especially my friend Missy Polka, aka Anonymous. Fun-nee!
So anyhoodles (you'll hear me saying/typing that for the next year or so, by ze way), I came to talk to y'all about the magic of the teenager posts. Here's one for starters:
Completely funny, eh? And there are much, much more! Me and my "deer genius" friend love these so very muchly, and in fact, they're on my profile page. Hey! Now here's a reason to get people to actually look at my profile. I for one think that it's the most important thing besides the posts on good ol' Proud to Be Geek Chic! Enjoy this happy collage of teenager posts, and soon I'm sure you'll think these are just as funny. And also, it'd be COOL (not sonderbar) if you could check out my profile... so could ya? Thanks a good ton! :)

Wow, OK. Got a little carried away there, huh? Sorry about that! See you guys soon! Hmm... stay divertidos like mushrooms, bow ties, and tin lunchboxes! Exsqueeze me for the Spanish, but finals are on Monday and I need to prep, prep, prep! Yikes *slanty smile* or just this little guy: :-/
con cariño,

The Perils of Italian Ices

'Ello, chappies! :)
Today was Field Day at skool (yeahhh, I'm cool! LOL), but it wasn't much fun because my only friend on my team was Oldman, and those who know her are aware of the fact that she is very serious about her sports. My idea of a "serious" time playin' sports is laughing maniacally with my friends, singing Airplanes (B.o.B) or Smooth Criminal (honestly. I don't need to tell you who sings this), and dancing the completely sonderbar *German! Ja!* dance--that I sorta kinda a little copied from Just Dance 3--to Back in Time (Pitbull). So we don't exactly see eye to eye in that department.
During the majority of the time, I basically walked around the field, looking lost... and it didn't exactly help that my whole team was great at basketball and soccer and all them apples, but I was the one bringing everyone down. A bad feeling, I tell you! :) But then the torture ended *whew! Finally...* and we had a partay-type-thing with pizza and Italian ices.
Now I have to lecture you guys on the hazards of Italian ices. One, I'm not even sure they're Italian (c'mon! Who can trust Americans anymore after we find out that fortune cookies originated from Japan?!), and if they are, they only came from Marco Polo bringing ideas to Emperor Nero, who liked to fiddle. Or maybe I'm just thinking of Principal Nero from the... (4th? 5th? Yeah...) 5th book in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Either way, I rest my case. Huh... who knew? An S.S. lesson! Chortle chortle guffaw!
Second point: it's disgustingly artificial! A bunch of my friends (you know who you are, Jezebel!) had jes' about three or four cups of Italian ice and their lips and teeth were all blue--hokay, that part was funny--but that's just... nasty! How can you eat so much airless flavor? I'm sure it's all just sugar and eventually we'll all have major cavities. Is it REALLY worth it?
So you guys gotta remind me to show you my new R2-D2 lunchbox! It's actually one of those tin ones that's so epically retro-rad and AWESOMETATIOUS! Can't wait to show y'all. I'm just too lazy to take pix right now. Haw haw... sorry :)
OH MY GUM!!! I actually just found it online! Here's a pic for all to see, and I'll share the story with you prettay soon.
Thanks, geekalerts.com! I love how all the sites that showed up have either "nerd" or "geek" in them. eatsleepgeek.com, geekalerts.com, thatsnerdalicious.com (LOL!), geekextreme.com, absolutelygeeky.tumblr.com... very nice, guys! Stay geeky like my science teacher Mr. Doherty (you shoulda seen his face when I showed him R2-D2!)!

H&M Really DOES Have Its Benefits (like I ever doubted that anyway)

Between hanging out with my friends at a street fair for MORE THAN THREE HOURS, *going to* AZ Flyer's tae kwon do ceremony (my little black belt!), splurging all my birthday money and a gift card on a shopping spree to H&M (so worth it) and watching the two-hour season finale of Touch (for those of you who watch: can you believe what happened with Amelia's mom, Jake, and Martin? And Clea was so nice! Girl poweuuuur :) ), I've been having a great weekend. So what that the dreaded oral report is tomorrow? I'm actually feeling pretty chilled out and confident... although it might just be that I'm in denial. Chortle chortle chortle!
Anyhoodles (apparently anything sounds cuter when it has "oodles" at the end of it... I do like the sound of "anyhoodles", haw haw), when I was at H&M with my ever-patient mother, I found all sorts of übercute clothes. (including but not limited to a striped romper, a polka-dotty dress, black and pink skinny belts, floral hair clips--although knowing me, I can't go without buying a big ol' flower accessory ;)--and sea-green shorts).
Another fabulous find was an adorable box of "plasters" (read: a c'est adorable name for Band-Aids) that look like cute French cartoon characters--who needs Sesame Street and Spongebob (although I've always hated him) now?--called Barbapapa. Apparently there's a whole species of these little, cute, and furry guys, including the aptly-named parents, Barbapapa and Barbamama, and their seven children of various names, but all with the prefix of "Barba" (examples of Barbabeau, who is my favorite because he's an artist; Barbalala, who is green and is a musician; and Barbabravo, who is sooperstrong). Here are some pictures below:

They were SO cute! I almost don't want to use them now... notice I said "almost"! :)
Stay helpfully handy like a good plaster... I like that much better than 'Band-Aids'. Why don't we use 'plasters' instead of 'adhesive bandages', huh? That I'd really like to know...
